Iredell-Statesville Schools has received a calendar waiver for the 2011-2012 school year. The final, approved calendar can be found here.
Although state law now mandates that school districts offer 185 student days, the late changes to the law disrupted many of the plans districts already had in place for the 2011-2012 school year. Because of this, the NC General Assembly approved a process to enable districts to apply for a one-year waiver to the law.
Iredell-Statesville Schools students will attend school for 180 days during the 2011-2012 school year, with additional days being added to the 2012-2013 school year.
The approved waiver for the 2011-2012 school year primarily affects teachers, with at least one day prior to the beginning of school being required for professional development. Additionally, October 28 is a required teacher workday for the district's Innovation Showcase.
