Weekly Announcements (May 28--June 7, 2019)

Good morning, this is Keith Gentle principal at LNHS with your wildcat weekly announcements.

The Summer Driver's Ed Class will begin on Monday, June 17th at LNHS in the auditorium. It ends on Thursday, June 27th. Class time is from 12:00 to 3:45. There are no Friday classes. You must be 14 and a half to take the class and at least a rising 9th grader. You do not need to register, but please be on time to the first class. It is the only summer class this year offered at Lake Norman. If you have questions please contact Mr. Kirby (martin_kirby@iss.k12.nc.us).

The spring exam schedule is now posted on the Lake Norman High website and attached to this connect ed. Please make sure and look it over. Please do not schedule trips, appointments, surgeries, vacations or college orientations/visits during exams. If a student has a conflict with testing because they are double booked for tests, please have them email Mr. Babbitt now so he can start working on those conflicts.

Laptops will be turned in after students are done with their last exam. If they are a senior or do not plan on returning to LNHS next year, then they need to turn in their charger. Failure to turn in a charger will result in a bill for 57.00. Students in grades 9-11 will keep their chargers over the summer. If a student does not have any exams, they can turn their device into the media center this week.

Students, are you looking for opportunities to improve our community? Visit the volunteerism webpage under quick links on the LNHS homepage or use the attached link: lakenormanvolunteers.com

Interested in hosting a short term Chinese Exchange student this fall? Hosting an international student can be rewarding:

1. You get exposed to a different culture and a new language;

2. You get a stipend to host;

3. You may even form a life-long friendship with the student you host;

4. You get to share your culture with somebody from the other side of the globe… Over 140 Chinese international students will come to Iredell-Statesville Schools this August! With this being said, we have a great need for host families for several schools. If you are interested in hosting an international student, please contact Sunny Hager@704-763-0295 or shager@tbiedu.com; or Cindy Kosofsky, ckosofsky@tbiedu.com . Host families do NOT have to have children in these specific schools. Any host family that is interested is invited to participate!

PTSA:
The PTSA invites all LNHS families to support our graduating seniors by volunteering time and donating items needed for our senior celebrations. The next Event will be held on June 3rd. Please see the SignUp Genius link in the email version of this ConnectEd:
