Rising 9th grade Information

Rising High School freshman parents and students,
It's hard to believe, but high school is just around the corner!  To ensure that Mt Mourne 8th grade students are properly registered for their future high school, we are asking all students to make their high school choice by Friday, Feb. 15.  Please follow link below to record your student's high school commitment.  Based on your response to the Commitment Form, you will receive further registration information in mid to late February.  Again, please follow link below and record your student's high school choice by Friday, Feb. 15   Link: 2019-2020 High School Commitment Form
If you are still undecided and have a few questions regarding Iredell-Statesville school options, please plan on attending one of the many events listed on the attached document.  The attached document highlights Open Houses, Information Sessions,  and our popular "Coffee with the Counselors".  During "Coffee with the Counselors" sessions, Counselors from SIHS and LNHS come to MMS (on their respective dates) and are available to you for one-on-one discussions and questions.  This event is an informal get together aimed at providing parents an opportunity to ask any/all questions! They have been VERY helpful and informative in years past.  Mt. Mourne School will host:
  •  "Coffee with LNHS Counselors" on Friday, Jan 4 from 8:30 - 10 am.
  •  "Coffee with SIHS Counselors" on Friday, Jan 18  from 8:30-10 am.
In addition to the events listed on the attached document, we highly recommend taking your student to high schools of interest for tours:
  • Contact Nicole Jones (IB MYP Coordinator) at SIHS for a tour and information on the IB MYP Programme at SIHS:
  • Contact LNHS Guidance/Counseling Office for information and to schedule a tour:  (704)799-8555
  • Early Colleges: Visit websites for contact information
Please pay close attention to Connect Ed messages and Phoenix Updates over coming month for further high school registration information.  In addition, please start having conversations with your student today about high his/her school choice.  All student high school choices must be received by 3:00 on Friday, Feb. 15.  If you have further questions, please contact our School Counselor, Kori Thompson at
