School Dress Code / Uniform Policy

East Iredell Elementary Uniform Policy

Appearance Standards, students should know that:

* General dress and grooming has a great impact upon their behavior in school.
* Healthy, modest, and safe factors are directly related to proper dress and grooming at school.
* A successful educational system relies heavily upon the maintenance of school discipline.
* Any style of dress or grooming that is distracting to learning, or immodest, will not be allowed.

Uniform Policy:
We have a uniform policy at East Elementary School. Students are allowed to wear the following:

* Shirts, Blouses, or Tops: Made of the school colors which consist of dark green, navy blue, red and white. Students may wear any solid school color top during the day. These shirts must be ONE solid color with no writing or symbols; except for purchased tops from the school (East). There must be no low-cut, off-the-shoulder, halter tops, see-through, strapless, tank top, or exposed midriff clothing. Oversized or excessively large clothing is not allowed.
* Pants, Shorts, Skirts: should consist of uniform "jumpers" in either a navy blue or tan color. The length of dresses, skirts and shorts should be at least 3/4 of the length of the student's thigh. Capris are acceptable as part of the school uniform. All of these garments must be either navy blue or tan.
* Shoes and Sandals: Must be worn at all times. Sandals may be worn, but flip flops are discouraged because of the risk of injury during PE and recess activities.
* Coats and Hats: Coats, jackets, sunglasses and gloves may not be worn during class time. Hats not allowed in school except on special school days. These items; except for sunglasses; can be worn outside during recess time.
