Future Scientists Show Off Their Skills at Recent District Science Fairs

During the month of November, Iredell-Statesville Schools hosted their annual district-wide science fair.  The Iredell-Statesville Schools Science Fair is an opportunity to showcase all the winning school-level fair projects.  The fair provides a place for innovative ideas to be shared in areas across Biology, Chemistry, Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, and Environmental Sciences.  Students represented their schools in the competition through board presentation and interview.  Their science board provides a display that outlines the area of research, problem, hypothesis, procedures, results, and conclusions.  Every student also interviews with a judge to answer more in-depth questions regarding their project, results, and overall conclusions.

The science fair is a great way for students to enhance their learning outside the classroom.

“The science fair is a great way to add rigor to a student’s classroom instruction and build communication skills,” Kelly Hinson, Director of AIG, IB and Online Programs explained.  “Through this learning opportunity students are allowed a chance to often investigate a problem that interests them and see what they learn in the classroom work in a real-world situation,” she added.

This year, Iredell-Statesville Schools congratulates the following students and wish them all the best as they move to the regional competition at UNC-Charlotte on February 2, 2019.
