Principal Named for New Early College of Agriculture
At their regularly scheduled Board of Education Meeting this evening, Mr. Billy Wells was appointed Principal of the new Early College of Agriculture on campus at North Iredell High School.
Coming to Iredell-Statesville Schools from the private sector, Mr. Billy Wells brought a wealth of business experience, team building knowledge and processes to continually improve systems and services. As the newly appointed Principal of the Early College of Agriculture and Science on campus at North Iredell High School, Mr. Wells' previous work experiences will serve him well as he begins to grow this, the third early college within Iredell-Statesville Schools.
After graduating from UNC-G in 1983 with a degree in Mathematics, Mr. Wells received his MS in Management in 1996 from Purdue University. A Master's Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University and School Administration Licensure from Gardner - Webb give Mr. Wells the academic background to be a perfect fit for the new campus.
Mr. Wells began his career with Iredell-Statesville Schools in Spring of 2006 as a Math Teacher at West Iredell High School and moved to teaching Business Information, Technology and Marketing at North Iredell High School in the fall of 2006. Mr. Wells remained in that position until the fall of the 2015-16 school year, when his duties shifted to Career Development Coordinator. In the summer of 2016, he began duties as Assistant Principal at North Iredell High School, until filling that same position at Lakeshore Middle School in November of 2016.
"I am thrilled to be able to serve as Principal of this new early college", Mr. Wells stated. " I've worked in partnership with Mitchell College for years and this new early college and its specialized curriculum will provide a great opportunity for our students.”
Mr. Wells will begin his duties this summer and be ready to welcome the incoming students early in August.
