    My Classroom Mission
Mrs. Harmon’s class is here to learn reading, writing, math, science and social studies in order to be prepared for 4th grade.  We will do this by following our class norms and always trying our best!
    About Me
I am beginning my 29th year in teaching.  I taught six years in Mooresville and six years at the former Wayside Elementary.  At those schools, I taught kindergarten and first grade. I am beginning my seventeenth year at Cool Spring, in which four of those years were spent teaching 5th grade and nine years teaching 1st grade.  I am excited and looking forward to teaching 3rd grade for the third year in a row.

I live in Seven Springs neighborhood, located beside East Middle School.  I have been married to Shannon for 28 years.  He works in Hickory as a commercial real estate appraiser.  We have one son named, Nathan.  He is twenty-three years old and graduated from North Iredell High School.  He graduated in May from NC State University majoring in Paper Science/Chemical Engineering.  Go Wolfpack!!  This summer he began a new job at KapStone (paper mill) in North Charleston and moved to Mount Pleasant, SC.

I enjoy reading, traveling, bird watching, going to the movies and out to eat, spending time with family and working in the yard.  And of course I love to shop!  I like to listen to Christian music mainly, but enjoy other kinds as well.  My family and I attend Providence United Methodist Church.  My grandfather was a Methodist preacher.  I have three big sisters.  I am the “baby” of the family.  My oldest sister, Beth Carter, is the speech/language pathologist here at Cool Spring.  I have another sister that lives in Greensboro and manages a horse farm and a sister that lives near Huston, TX and is also a teacher.  My mother is a retired teacher and principal and lives in Greensboro.  I grew up on a farm in Statesville and rode Quarter Horses.  My father still lives there today.

I went to Scotts Elementary, West Middle, and West High School.  I graduated college from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I also received my master’s degree in elementary education.  I am also a National Board (NB) Certified Teacher as an Early Childhood Generalist.
