I believe that life skills play an important role in a person's quality of life. In my classroom, students will learn how to make healthy choices and discover how life decisions can affect their future.
I am a product of Iredell-Statesville Schools and am proud to be a part of education today. In 1999 I received my BS degree at Appalachian State University in Health Promotions with a minor in Foods and Nutrition. Once I started teaching, I received my teaching license from NC A&T University. I graduated in 2013 from Gardner- Webb University in the Executive Leadership Program. I have taught Family & Consumer Sciences for 20 years at SIHS, NIHS, Monticello and Pressly Schools.
In 2013, I jumped on board the IMPACT Team and became a Blended Learning Coach for Monticello and Pressly Schools. Collaborating with K-12 teachers to bring in digital tools and educating students on using Apple applications was a challenge that I enjoyed. To continue my work, I went back into the classroom and used the strategies I shared as a coach. I am continuing to learn and challenge my students to use technology!
I love to spend time with my family. My husband is the Principal of Alexander Early College. I have three beautiful children, Hannah (19) who attends Lenoir Rhyne University, her little brother, Joshuah (9) who is attending Central Elementary School, and our little princess, Julianah Grace (4). We enjoy traveling to West Virginia to visit family and cheering for both WV and APP MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!!
