2. Oral-Motor Skills - strengthening the muscles we use to
make speech sounds

appropriateMore about Mrs. Richards...I'm the Celeste Henkel Speech Language Pathologist. I've worked here since August, 1996 and have loved every minute of it. The students that I work with (past and present) are very special to me and I love to watch them grow and succeed. I have the fortunate opportunity to get to know my students and their families very well. I get to know each one's own personality, distinct style, and what motivates them to succeed. I can't imagine doing anything else with my life. My job is awesome. It does present challenges at times, but I LOVE IT!!!My education and certifications:I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Speech and Hearing Science. I also hold an Master's degree in Communication Disorders, which I received from Appalachian State University. I am ASHA (American Speech and Hearing Association) certified and certified by the NC Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists. My Other Life:James and I live in Statesville and we stay busy all the time. I have 1 son, Aidan, who is a student at Celeste. I have 3 step children, as well. With 4 kids, we are busy most of the time. In my free time, I enjoy watching the Carolina Tarheels play basketball and football and I love to watch the Panthers win on Sunday afternoons. I enjoy watching movies, traveling, and going out to dinner with friends.
