• In fourth grade at Celeste you will learn not only the subject material that is required but also how to become a boy or girl of respectable character. There are three important test that you will need to take in the fourth grade: the End of Grade Math Test, the End of Grade Reading Test and the Writing Test. The End of Grade tests are taken at the end of the year and the Writing test is given in March. Here are just some of the exciting topics that will be covered in Fourth Grade:

     

    Math- Place value, geometry, fractions, decimals, division, multiplication, measurement, problem solving and more...

     

    Reading-Compare and contrast, predict, summarize, follow directions, referents, drawing conclusions, story elements, cause and effect, characterization and more...

     

    English- Nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives and more...

     

    Spelling- Besides learning a set of words each week there is a Spelling Bee that you take part in if you excell in spelling.

     

    History- We focus on North Carolina. We learn about the history of North Carolina and explore the regions of our state in detail. We also take a trip to the Outer Banks and to the Biltmore House to learn more about our state.

     

    Health- We learn a lot about who we are as a person. The students will also explore their bodies to understand how they work.

     

    Science- Focus is on analyzing systems, and learning how systems work.  Understanding the relationships of mass, energy objects, and organisms.

     

    Writing- Poems, plays, letters, personal marratives, imaginary stories and more...
