Bachelor of Arts
As a team we will succeed!
My Classroom Mission: Every day I will try my best to effectively teach ALL my ESL students to speak, read, write, and listen in English so they can fully function in their other academic classes.
Student Mission: Together, we will learn and grow in English Language Proficiency. We will all grow in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing through consistent practice and interaction with each other. We will learn, accept and respect each other for our differences and strive to become more knowledgeable of each others cultures.
Hola! My name is Mazor and this is my first year of teaching! I am originally from New York but went to school in Ohio. I graduated in May of 2018 with a Bachelor in Arts and I majored in Linguistics with concentrations in TESOL, Spanish, Bible and Modern Languages. During college I studied for a semester in Valencia, Spain, taking all Spanish courses in literature, grammar and translation. I've been to 6 countries, five in Europe and one in Central America (Panama). I first traveled outside the United States when I was 16 and since then have fallen in love with learning about different cultures and languages.
I have taught in various settings before working at SIHS. In college I interned at a government funded ESL Program for adult immigrants and refugees, tutored Spanish speakers who moved to the U.S., tutored a Spanish family's two girls in Spain, and I have also volunteered teaching in Italy at a kid's ESL camp.
When I am not teaching or traveling, I love to read books and go hiking! I absolutely love the outdoors, especially the mountains!
