• Welcome To Computer Science Discoveries

     Bio:

My name is Kensley Dalton. I teach Computer Science Discoveries here at Troutman Middle School and I am the JV and Varsity Boys Basketball coach. I am married with four children, three at Statesville High and one at NB Mills.  I am a Class of 2000 graduate of Statesville High School.  I graduated Mitchell Community College in 2008 with an Associate's Degree in Computer Information Technology and I received my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Technology with a minor in Web Page Development in 2017 from Argosy University out of Phoenix, Arizona.  This is my very first year teaching and I am excited to join the TMS family.

In Computer Science Discoveries, students learn the basics of coding and programming.  We start with an introduction into problem solving and how a computer is used in the problem solving process then we work our way into the inner workings of a computer and how information is stored and processed.  Next we work our way into introducing coding, starting with basics shapes and colors, and working our way to more advanced lines of code.  Students will learn how to program their own basic apps and websites.  In Computer Science Discoveries we use the code.org platform.
