Welcome to Mrs. Freitas's Website
Mrs. Sandy Freitas
I attended the University of the Pacific, in Stockton, California, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a teaching credential for Kindergarten through 8th grade. Then I worked for a college ministry organization for many years, teaching in many settings, writing curriculum, and training new staff. When my own children were small, I was fortunate enough to take a break from working outside of the home to be a stay at home parent. But as my kids began school, and I volunteered in classrooms, I started dreaming again about teaching school. When my youngest was in Kindergarten, I decided to bring my credential up to date at UNC Charlotte. I student taught here at Coddle Creek in 2016-2017, and taught 5th grade last year. Now I am loving 4th grade!
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family more than anything else. My husband, Jayme, and I have four kids: Joseph, a sophomore at South Iredell High School, Cecilia, who is in 8th grade at Mt. Mourne, and Mary Claire and Jack who are in 5th and 3nd grade at Lakeshore Elementary School. As a family we love to go out on the lake and wakeboard, play a lot of board games, and always have special family dinners on Friday nights. I love to cook, and my girls and I bake together a lot. As a family we go to the Cove Church, and we went on a missions trip the last two summers to Honduras. If I have a rare day all to myself, I choose to fuss around in my flowerbeds or sip a hot, black coffee on my deck while I read a suspenseful novel.
Some of my favorite things are: Starbucks coffee, authentic Mexican food, Chic-fil-A and Chipotle, globes and maps, and flowers.
