•  ¡Bienvenidos!

Welcome to my homepage!  My name is Alysia Ross (Señora Ross) and this is my second year at South Iredell High School.  I have a bachelor's degree from Earlham College and master's degrees in Spanish and Social Work from the University of Louisville.  While I am not a native speaker of Spanish, I have extensive experience living and working in Latin America.  I have studied abroad twice in Mexico (in San Luis Potosí and Morelos), served for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador, and completed a summer internship in Argentina with the Fundación Mempo Giardinelli. I love Spanish, but my love for it never took its root until I used it in service of others.  I have worked with migrant farmworker families in Indiana and Texas and with North Carolina youth in Yadkin County.

I have taught Spanish for more than 8 years at the University of Louisville and University of North Carolina in Charlotte.  This is my second year at South Iredell High School and I love being a Viking! This year, I am teaching Spanish 2 MYP and Spanish 3 MYP.  I can't wait to get to know you y hablar en español con ustedes.

In my classes we will use Canvas as our content management system.  Please go to Canvas for more information throughout the semester.
