The mission of Lakeshore Middle School Library is to create an atmosphere where patrons feel welcome and are empowered to become independent, effective information seekers and to encourage a love of reading and lifelong learning.About Me
Hi! My name is Cheri Hudson and I am the Media Specialist at Lakeshore Middle School. Throughout my career I have worked as a teacher assistant/bus driver, taught 1st-3rd grades, and have worked as a Media Specialist in grades K-8th. I have also worked as the Branch Manager/Programming Director of Southwest Branch Public Library. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University, my Master of Library Science from Appalachian State University, and my Ed.D. of Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University.I have worked in public education for 24 years and I am passionate about education and literacy. I love to see my students take ownership and get excited about what they are learning. I am a proponent of project based learning and love for my students to have a "hands-on" approach during lessons. One of my favorite quotes is, "If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you!" I share this with my students often and remind them to "Read, Read, Read"!Personal Info.I was born and raised in North Carolina and currently live in Hickory. My husband Mark and I have three children, who keep us very busy. Emma is a Jr. at Fred T. Foard High School, Colin is Freshman at Fred T. Foard, and Owen is a 4th grader at Lakeshore Elementary. Our tribe of five loves spending time in the mountains and can be found most weekends on our property in West Jefferson, kayaking, mountain biking, fishing, hiking, or just hanging out by the fire pit! I love to travel and explore new adventures with my family. Some of my other favorite things include: Greek food, running, volunteering with our church youth group, Duke Basketball, reading mysteries, and dark chocolate!
