Theatre, as an art form, is created and learned through active involvement and commitment. It is therefore imperative, that students dedicate their full attention during class time. Classes will be graded on: daily participation, (weekly) vocabulary assessments - Action "Actor" Verbs, written work and assignments, projects, and the retention of material explored in class.About Me
Stephanie Deal began her training in Grand Forks, North Dakota and continued in North Carolina at the Alexander Dance Theatre. She received her degrees in Musical Theatre and Dance from Lees - McRae College and her Teaching Certification from UNC - Chapel Hill. In 2005 she received the National College Dance Student award. Stephanie has performed professionally in theaters throughout the country, on the television series "One Tree Hill", "Palmetto Point", and "Devious Maids", and as a dancer at The American Dance Festival and Disney World. Favorite credits include: Maggie (Lend Me A Tenor), Mrs. Nichols (Going to See the Elephant), Patsy (Crazy for You), Anybodys (West Side Story), Sugar Baby (Sugar Babies), and Minnie Faye (Hello Dolly). When not on stage, Stephanie enjoys teaching tomorrow's stars! She has taught at Lees - McRae College (adjunct professor - performing arts department), Northwestern Dance Studio in Boone, NC, Durham School of the Arts, Carrboro Recreational Center, etc. Stephanie has also choreographed for Hayes Performing Arts Center (Dancing with the High Country Stars), Ensemble Stage, Lees - McRae Summer Theatre, Lees - McRae College, Northwestern Starz Competition Team, etc. Stephanie has received numerous regional and national awards for choreography from The State Dance Championships, DWTHCS, Showstopper, Dance Masters, Inc., and Star Power.
