    My Classroom Mission

My mission is to create a positive, engaging, and collaborative classroom. We will achieve this through inquiry labs, science demonstrations, and technology based activities. Students will become well acquainted with the 21st skills necessary to succeed in 6th grade and beyond. Above all, it is my mission to encourage my students to understand the importance of Science in our everyday life. The skills learned in my class will help them be successful regardless if Science is their first love or just a past time.
    About Me

I am originally from Vilas, NC in Watauga County. I grew up surrounded by a family of teachers and those involved in the education field. Upon graduation from Watauga High School in 2012, I decided to attend Appalachian State University for an undergraduate degree in Middle Grades Education. This rigorous program taught me the latest pedagogy, strategies, and content necessary to teach Young Adolescents in the NC School System. I am dually certified to teach 6th through 9th grade students in the content areas of Science and English Language Arts. I have always enjoyed working with young adolescents, knowing that this period of their life is where some of the most important discoveries are made. I am excited start my 3rd year of teaching at Mount Mourne IBO School after graduating from ASU in May of 2016. Science has always been my favorite subject and I can't wait to share that passion with my students! I also have a small zoo at my home which includes birds, fish, and lizards!
