    My Classroom Mission

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

    - Albert Einstein

All children have the ability to learn and succeed. Through thoughtful lesson planning, my goal is to develop creative and engaging techniques for immersing students in the scientific world. It is my belief that science requires students to “question everything” in order to learn about the natural world around them. Through guided and discovery inquiry, I hope that students will develop a sincere passion for the various areas of science. The future is going to require an intellectual group of thinkers that will need to solve the problems that the demands of an ever increasing population are creating. Getting students to realize this is the foundation behind my own passion for science.

My name is Kyle McKay and I was born in Aurora, Colorado. My family moved back to Michigan when I was five and this is where I grew up. I was heavily involved in football and wrestling from a young age all the way through my senior year in high school. I attended Central Michigan University where I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a major in Child Development, and minors in Integrated Sciences and Reading in the Elementary Grades. I also received my Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University in Technology in Education.

I moved here from Michigan after teaching science and coaching High School Varsity Wrestling for six years. I have been married to my beautiful wife for 7 years, and in October of 2014 we were blessed with the birth of our daughter, Kinley Aurora. Our next child is due in November of this year.

The things in life that I am most passionate about involve being outdoors. Bowhunting whitetail deer, fishing, camping, hiking and exploring are absolutely my favorite things to do.

I am excited to be here at Troutman Middle School teaching 8th grade science.
