Leslie M. Lackey
I am happy to be teaching your child 7th grade science this 2018-2019 school year.
My mission is to teach your child the North Carolina Standard Course of Study in 7th grade science. Your child will demonstrate growth and improvement throughout the school year. They will be measured by their progress on common formative assessments, cumulative exams and the MSL (Measure of Student Learning) at the end of the 7th grade school year. Overall, they will be better prepared to take the North Carolina End of Grade 8th grade science test.
I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. I attended Seminole High School in Orlando, Florida. I graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando ( Go Knights!!) with a B.S. degree in Molecular Biology/Microbiology and a minor in Chemistry. I am happily married with 2 children. I have not always been a teacher. I have many years of practical experience in the science field that I bring to your child. I have worked in various laboratories for quite some time. I have worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in research for many years. I have worked as a microbiologist for several companies including Procter & Gamble and Environmental Diagnostics. I have even worked in pharmaceutical marketing as a Microbiological Technical Business Manager. I went into teaching because I had a middle school teacher that inspired me to go into the sciences and I want to be that kind of inspiration to young people. I really enjoy teaching and being able to bring my practical knowledge to the classroom.
