I graduated from North Iredell High in 2005 and went on to become a Mountaineer at Appalachian State University. In 2009, I graduated from ASU with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in mathematics and science. I started my teaching career in Wilkes County as an 8th grade Math and Science teacher and Soccer Coach at West Wilkes Middle School. After one year at West Wilkes the teaching job I wanted most came available at NIMS. I wanted to teach at NIMS
because the last few years of high school and throughout college my mother taught there. I saw how much she enjoyed being there and wanted to feel that same way each day I went to work. In 2012, I married my high school sweetheart along with graduating from Appalachian with a Master's Degree in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in science.
While at NIMS I have had the pleasure of teaching both math and science. This year will be my ninth year of teaching. I am extremely excited to see what this school year brings!
The three absolute loves of my life are my husband, John, and puppies, Diesel and Madden. I look forward to spending Sundays and an occasional Monday and Thursday night watching Carolina Panthers Football. My favorite part of teaching math is graphing and writing functions. This could be because I was so bad at it to begin with in 7th grade and finally mastered it. My all time favorite thing to teach in science is chemistry. One last favorite is any type of candy that is not dark chocolate especially chewy sweet tarts, skittles, and starburst.
