    My Classroom Mission

I will strive to install self-discipline, performance conduct, teamwork, and responsibility in students while inspiring them to discover their connection with singing.

My Mission is to encourage students to live life with purpose, to the fullest and with gratitude everyday.  And to inspire them to be more than they thought they could be.

    About Me
    Joyce Lingerfelt and Family

I  graduated from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida with a degree in Music Education.  I started my teaching career in Gastonia, NC, my home town.  After three years of teaching I decided to be a stay-at-home Mom.  My husband then accepted a youth pastor position in Panama City, FL where we lived for 7 years.  From there we moved to Marianna, FL for 11 years where my husband was the District Youth Director.  I began teaching again as a Middle School Band Director at Marianna Middle School for 8 years.  We moved to Statesville, NC  in June of 2013 when my husband accepted the pastorate position at Life Point Church Statesville.  In our first year here, I  went to many schools as a substitute teacher in Iredell County where I fell in love with East Middle School.  I enjoyed meeting the amazing students, teachers and administrators.  I am in my forth year of Chorus Director here at East Middle and I am excited to work at this awesome school!

I have been married to my wonderful husband for 31 years and we have two beautiful children.  Our daughter recently graduated with her Master's Degree from Regent University and has begun her carreer at Gaston College, Gastonia, NC as the Admissions Specialist.  Our son has an A.A. degree in Piano Musical Performance finished his education with a B.A. in Music Production from  from Full Sail University in Orlando  with a bachelor's degree in Music Production.  He is currently persuing a  career in church music.
