    6th Grade Laptop Distribution 2018

Students will be issued their laptops and power cords during camp provided they bring a backpack with a padded compartment or a padded laptop sleeve. Parents will need to come into the building with their student at drop off. You may park on campus or at the church next door or across the street and come to the media center. If you park at Fairview Methodist across the street, please do not park in the marked spaces closest to the building.

Prior to the day of transition camp:

    1. Submit the technology usage fee ($50) either online or in person. Bring your receipt with you. If this payment is a financial burden, please contact Mr. Shinkaruk to arrange a payment plan.
    2. During the day of camp, students will be setting up the laptop with a password that will be used both to unlock the computer and to access their email account. It would be helpful to discuss a password with the student and have them come to camp with a password in mind. It will be written on their paperwork and sent home with the student. Passwords must contain at least 8 characters. It must contain at least 1 capital letter and 1 number. It cannot contain any part of the student’s name. Do not use the number 1 by itself. Do not use consecutive numbers.

    At School:

    1. In the media center, you will complete a two-part form and be able to examine the computer that will be issued to your student.
    2. Students will be given their computer and cords later in the morning. At that time, they will log in and be introduced to some of the basic uses of the device. Students will not be allowed to take the computer home without a parent signature and the proper backpack or sleeve.

If a parent is unable to be there on transition day, drop-in deployment will take place on Aug. 21 from 8:30-3:30. Please sign up on the MMS website. Laptops will also be distributed during the first week of school.

All further information about Macbooks can be found on the MMS website under Parents > Macbook Information.
