Students will explore topics such as environmental issues, food science, computers and animation, and future fuels through hands-on learning. I am excited to announce that we will have a 3D printer in our STEM lab!Half of the school semester will focus on Life Skills. The focus is on hands-on learning to help students prepare for family life, work life, and careers. Students will gain skills in the following core areas such as nutrition and healthy food options, food prep, financial resource management, and child development.While students are learning about STEM and Life Skills, we will explore careers related these subjects.About Me
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! My name is Juli Tipton-Smalley and I am excited to teach STEM and Exploring Life Skills at EIMS. I have been teaching at EIMS at since 2014. My past professional experience includes Family and Consumer Sciences Agent in Mecklenburg County, I owned and managed a mortgage company with my husband, and I also worked in Early Intervention working with children born with a developmental delay or birth defect. I obtained my bachelors degree in Psychology at Ohio University and my MS in Child Development and Family Relations at East Carolina University. I also obtained my teaching certification through ECU.
I have been married for 20 years and have three wonderful, active children. My family enjoys sports, and our two dogs, Mia and Rudy. When I am not teaching, I enjoy boating, paddle boarding, reading, trying healthy recipes, home improvement projects, and watching my kids play sports.I strongly believe in open communication between the teacher, parents, and students.
