     About Me ---

What makes teaching a wonderful profession is watching the students learn and be excited about learning.  My own mom taught me to love learning and sharing.  “You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.” (Clay P. Bedford)

I grew up in Lexington, NC (about an hour away from here).  I attended Elon College (now Elon University) where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Math and Science and a Master’s degree in Learning Disabilities.  I also have my AIG certification (K-12).  My experience includes Alamance – Burlington schools, Mooresville Graded Schools, and Iredell Statesville Schools.  I was the 2017-2018 Mount Mourne Teacher of the Year and this will be my fifth year at Mount Mourne teaching seventh grade science.

My family includes my husband Shane, three wonderful children --- John (16), Alana (13), and Jake (9).  We enjoy family activities together -- especially going to Disney World.

“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”  --- Walt Disney

                      CLASS MISSSION STATEMENT

I would like to have a positive learning environment for all students.  I would like for students to achieve mastery of Level 2 / 7th grade Science Goals and Objectives.  We will do this through inquiry activities, vocabulary building (L to J), technology and meaningful assessments.

Communication is important and the fastest way to reach me is by email.   My email address is alicia_driver@iss.k12.nc.us.

    Helpful if email includes …

Junk e-mail usually has no subject line and I have been advised to delete email that does not have a subject line.  Therefore in order for me to open your email please add a subject line on your email  - Subject line examples: Getting glasses next week, Fractured arm last night, We're moving, Assignment question, etc.
