     About Me

As a Physical Educator, Fuel Up to Play 60 Program Advisor and 2016-17 TES Teacher of the Year, I'm excited to announce that we have been awarded 2 grants the past 2 years, named Carolina Panthers' Hometown Huddle school, and this year recepients of a new NFL Flag Football Kit/Program from Fuel Up to Play 60.  The Grab and Go Breakfast Kiosk and stability balls purchased from 1st grant is still be utilized as well as the recess equipment purchased.  We were invited to present FUTP60 activities at the NCAPPHERD state conference.  Last June we were 1 of 8 schools selected based on our increase in breakfast participation thanks to the Grab and Go Kiosk to present at the Carolina Panthers' Gen Youth Rally.  Last November we were invited to present at the Healthy Leaders Summit in Charlotte.  Child Nutrition and our Physical Education Dept.  teamed up last year to work together to help make our school a Healthier Environment.  In result, we were awarded Best Practices for a Healthy Environment by the state and this school year we will except 1st place in the Golden Key Award in October at the state convention.

I am looking forward to another year as a physical education teacher.  This will be my 23rd year with the Iredell Statesville Schools teaching in a full or part-time position.  I have taught 4th grade, Title 1 Reading K-3, 1st grade, kindergarten, and worked as a job coach for the system.  I graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne with a degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science and received my K-6 certification from UNC Charlotte.  I am also certified in Physical Education K-12.
My husband Tripp of 23 years and I are the proud parents of 2 boys, Carson and Camden.  Carson a college student and Camden is a 6th grader at Northview IB.  Carson and Cam share my love for tennis and also enjoys playing basketball.  Tripp and I love coaching and spending time with the boys!  We all enjoy playing and walking our yellow lab, Chris!
