     Ms. Hartle
I would like to welcome all SIHS students back to school. Please feel free to visit or contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.  As an Language and Literature/Literature teacher for the Diploma Programme, I look forward to a year full of new challenges, engaging conversation, and stellar assignments.
    My Classroom Mission
Students in the DP Language A classes will be able to read, analyze, create, and evaluate a vast array of written text, questioning themselves and others, through written and oral communication, while enhancing acceptance and tolerance of similarities and differences in the global community.
    About Me

This year will be my 22nd year in education.  Throughout my career as an English teacher, I have taught in Imperial, California; Taylorsville, North Carolina; and Statesville, North Carolina.  I am a graduate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where I received a BS in English Education. In 1998 I received my certification for Gifted Education from UNCC. Teaching has always been my dream career, well maybe next to acting (which I do both in my spare time and daily teaching)!  In my own childhood education, many great teachers have been more than my gatekeepers to knowledge; they have been my motivators, my cheerleaders, my caretakers, and my support systems.  I became a teacher to guide other children to find themselves, their purposes, and use their gifts to leave this world a better place!
I was born and raised in Somerset, Pennsylvania, the third of four girls.  One of my sisters is also in education; she teaches Spanish in Forsyth County.  During my school years, I was an active member of Civil Air Patrol, a cellist in the school orchestra, competitor for school speech and debate team, choral student, student council member, and lead in several school plays.  In college, I continued to participate in theatre/arts and speech and debate, and worked on both the local college TV and radio stations. I also studied in Northern Ireland during my junior year.
I currently live in Taylorsville, North Carolina with my husband and twelve year old daughter.  I am very active in the Theatre Statesville community, acting, set design and building as well as directing. I enjoy reading, writing poetry, camping, kayaking, fly fishing, rock climbing, and cooking.  I am a die hard Steelers fan, but love rugby and hockey as well.
