“The brick walls are not there to keep us out.
The brick walls are there to give us a chance to
show how badly we want something…Because the
brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t
    want it badly enough.”

    My Classroom Mission

Through exploring different styles of writing and genres of reading, my goal is to work with the students to improve their skills in these areas and provide opportunities to discover how important reading and writing is in their academic, personal, and future professional lives.

    About Me
I understand that becoming a great reader and writer can be challenging and difficult at times. Even as a Language Arts teacher, I struggled with reading and writing beginning in elementary school through my sophomore year of college. During my four years at Appalachian State University, I learned that I had a learning disability. Through hard work and the support of teachers, family, and other students, I achieved my goal of becoming a middle school teacher. I learned to love reading and writing: subjects I never thought I would love to teach. After graduating from Appalachian State University, I moved to Raleigh where I earned my Masters degree in middle school Language Arts. I grew up in this area, so after 6 years of school, I decided to move back home to teach in the community that I love and coach cheerleading for the high school I graduated from, South Iredell. This is my eighth year as a 7th Grade teacher, and my fourth year at North Iredell Middle. I look forward to building a relationship with you and your family during the school year!
