    About Me- Professionally speaking....
After living in Missouri and Florida in my early life, I grew up in Clemmons, NC- a short 30 minute drive down I-40.  I attended Elon University as a NC Teaching Fellow and received a BA in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in  English/Language Arts and Social Studies as well as a High School Education Degree in History.  In my 24 years of teaching, I have done a lot of traveling and moving! I have taught in Forsyth County, Wake County, Charlotte- Mecklenburg and Iredell County Schools.  I received my AIG Licensure in 2005.  After 2 years as AIG Specialist for East Middle, I was an Instructional Facilitator for three years.  I received my National Boards Certificate in 2010.  I am thrilled to be back in the classroom with LOTS of resources to make EACH of my students successful. Northview and the IB philosophy certainly has my heart.  My daughter was a student here, and I followed her.  She graduated from South in the IB program in 2018.
    About Me- Personally speaking....
I love to read almost anything; I find myself reading the cereal box at breakfast, signs on busses, the literature at the doctor's office... anything!  I also like to travel.  I have been privileged to study abroad in Europe and would love to travel more in the U.S. This summer my family took a trip of a lifetime for my daughter's senior to year to Europe.  On the Disney cruie, we toured 8 ports of call, and I'm excited to share that with my students!! I love IB's worldview focus because it matches my personal philosophy.
My big love is Carolina basketball.  As a child, Dean Smith was my hero, and I thought he actually was the "Dean" of the whole university!  I still follow ACC basketball closely, only my house is divided.  My husband went to NC State so some games get a little tense!  My daughter, MacKenzie is a freshman at UNCW so you'll find me in Wilmington every chance I get.
