WIHS Student Services Mission:
To assist all students in reaching their academic and personal potential through school, career, college and personal counseling and through related support services.
I am one of three counselors on staff at West Iredell High School. I work primarily with 10th and 11th grade students, although I am more than happy to help students at any grade level. Additionally, I am in charge of coordinating services related to 504 plans at West.
I also serve as the co-advisor for the West Iredell chapter of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions). The SADD club is open to all students and its mission is to encourage positive choices through student empowerment. Working with these students to empower and educate themselves and their peers by giving them the resources and support to make healthy choices when confronted with challenges and difficult decisions is one of the great privileges of my profession.
When not at school, I am involved in many different activities and interests. I serve as a tour guide for the Wilkesboro Historical Society Ghost Tours, and for the Trivette Clinic in Hamptonville. I also do story-telling at events in the area. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, camping, hiking, historical research and spending time with family and friends.
I am a graduate of Appalachian State University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and my Master of Arts degree in Professional School Counseling. I have been a school counselor for 21 years.
