• Welcome to my Classroom

    Name: Katrina Potts
    Email Address: kpotts@iss.k12.nc.us

Welcome to all students.  I look forward to a wonderful semester with you.  Thank you to all the parents for sharing your children with me this year.

This is my first year at Lake Norman High school but my twentyth year teaching.  I look forward to learning all about Lake Norman and making this my home away from home.

One thing that is changing for the 2018-2019 school year. I am no longer accepting LATE work.  Each day your student will be given papers, either at the door or on their desk, and they have ninety minutes to complete all assignments and turn them in for a grade.  If they fell to do so for that day then they will be given a zero for that day's assignments. The only way this does not apply if you are absent and when you return you will be given your missed work and depending on how long you were out will depend on how long you have to finish all the missing assignments. I feel I am doing the students a disservice in allowing them to turn in late work and not teaching them responsibility. This will ensure when they leave my class they will be better prepared for college.

The Classroom Mission for Mrs. Potts' classes are for everyone in the class to make an 85% or higher in the class and on the end of course test also for all students in my class to graduate from High School.

About Me:  I graduated from Appalachian State University where I received my B.S. in Family and Consumer Science with a minor in Management and Marketing.  During the summer of 2009 I received my certification in Family and Consumer Science.  I have taught  school for twenty years but this is my first year at Lake Norman High School.  The classes I am teaching this semester are Foods I and Foods 2. I have three children, a son who is getting married in October, a daughter who attends college in Greensboro and a daughter who attends college in Boone.

I have second Period Planning so if you need to reach me that would be the best time that we can "talk". You can always e-mail me any time just give me at least a day to respond and if I don't then please feel free to call me.
