Welcome to Foods 1 and 2!
My Classroom Mission
Our mission is to score 80 or above on the vocats exam for Foods and Nutrition 2 and Culinary Arts & Hospitality 1. Our mission for Foods 2 includes passing the Serve Safe exam as well. We will learn how tp prepare nutritious foods safely, as well as special diets for medical and cultural reasons. For Culinary Arts & Hospitality 1), we will learn advanced methods of food preparation and service, as well as cater events at school and do monthly teacher cafes. The students will also plan and operate a teacher cafe 5 times during the semester. I look forward to the hard work and fun that is sure to accompany this course!
I graduated from UNC-G in 1980 with a degree in Home Economics (now called Family and Consumer Science) with teaching certification. I am also certified to teach middle school science and ESL.
I have been married since 1980 and have 7 children and 2 grandchildren, who I am raising.
I love what I teach and live it every day! I love to cook and work with young children and I hope my enthusiasm gets you excited about these subjects, too!
I spend what little free time I have watching my kids play sports and enjoying my family, as well as cooking special things for my family.
