    My Classroom Mission

To empower students with the skills to succeed in high school emphasizing the connection of academic and career opportunities and to encourage life-long learning with every student.
    About Me
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and received my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  I am originally from Greensboro, NC and lived in South Florida for over three years before moving back to North Carolina in 2001.  I have worked as a collegiate Career Counselor for undergraduate studies at NSU and as an Assistant Director for Career Services at Wake Forest University School of Law.  I began working as a school counselor at South Iredell in 2004 and am a National Board Certified School Counselor (2010).
In my freetime, I enjoy running and have run in several 5k, 10k, and  1/2 marathon races.
At South Iredell, I work with students with the last name starting with A-E.  My duties include individual and group counseling, career and college counseling/planning, registration, and homebound contact.
As the NCAA Clearinghouse contact, I work with student athletes to get registered for the Clearinghouse and to help parents and student athletes to understand rules and regulations for staying eligible to play sports in college.
As the Miss South Iredell advisor, I plan and coordinate the Miss SI scholarship program.  This scholarship program is open to Senior ladies in good academic standing (3.0 gpa.) and have no discipline or attendance issues.
I also am the advisor for our PATH (Peer Athlete Team Helper)/Peer Helper.
