We pledge to do our best in reading, math, and all the rest. We promise to obey the rules in our class and in the school. We'll expect the best in all we do. We are here to learn all we can, to try our best, and be all we can be!About MeThis is my second year teaching first grade, and I have nine years of experience teaching kindergarten at Woodland Heights Elementary School. I received my Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Gardner-Webb University in 2008 and my Master's in Education Theory and Practice from Arkansas State University in 2012. In 2015, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in Reading-Language Arts: Early and Middle Childhood. My family moved here from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, in 2003. We love North Carolina! My husband, John, and I have three wonderful daughters. Jennifer is married and is the speech pathologist at WHE, Kaitlin received her master's in geography at ASU and is working for the Department of Forestry in California, and Laura graduated from UNC-Charlotte and works in the health insurance industry. In my spare time, I enjoy working in the yard, reading, shopping, and spending time with my family. I love kids and sincerely enjoy encouraging them to succeed in both school and life! Our classroom pet is a six-year old, red-eared slider turtle named Franklin. Franklin loves to sunbathe, swim, and become friends with anyone he meets. We also have an adopted loggerhead turtle named Gilda who was injured and released back into the Atlantic Ocean.Franklin on Summer Vacation
