    About Me

I've lived in Iredell County most of my life. I went to Scotts Elementary, West Middle, and West Iredell High School. After graduating, I went to Appalachian State in Boone. I earned my BS degree in Elementary Education.  While I was at ASU I met my husband, Wally. After getting married we moved around with his job for several years, but in 2002 we settled in back in NC. After teaching elementary school for 15 years I decided to move to middle school. I earned my MS degree from Gardner Webb University in Middle Grades Education. I plan to continue teaching middle school until I retire.

My hobbies include reading (OF COURSE), shopping, watching TV and movies, playing with all my techie gadgets, and spending time watching all my students in their after school activities. My favorite genre to read is dystopian science fiction like Divergent or The Hunger Games.  My favorite TV shows are Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, and Criminal Minds. I like to watch the movies that are made from books I've read. I almost always like the book better than the movie. I have lots of favorite movies but a few of my all time favorites are The Lucky One, Man on Fire, Eclipse, and Steel Magnolias.

Family time is also important to me. We have 3 amazing, talented, and energetic boys. I have a niece and four nephews that all live close to me. I spend as much time with family as possible. I always tell stories about them too. We love sports around my house. I especially like college football. My 2 favorite teams are the ASU Mountaineers and the Alabama Crimson Tide...since they are in different conferences and never play each other it's okay that I have 2 favorites. I'm also a Carolina Tarheels basketball fan!!

I'm looking forward to a great year full of reading and learning!!
