• Welcome to Our Tropical Paradise in 3rd Grade

    Our 3rd Grade Mission Statement
We come to school each day,
To do more than hang out
    With friends and play.
We're here to learn new things,
as soon as that tardy bell rings.
    We will study our notes,
and practice each new "I Will,"
Until we've "mastered" each and every skill.
    There will be no "DOUBT",
So please hear us as we "SHOUT"...
     ..."WE WON'T BE LATE,
    About Me
This is my 18th year teaching elementary school.  I also worked as an administrative assistant at Brawley Middle School for two years, taking care of discipline and bus routes.  I had the opportunity to help develop an alternative classroom at Brawley Middle and was privileged to assist in the classroom during this pilot program using Behavior Modification Strategies.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree from UNC-Charlotte.  I also received my Master's Degree in Elementary Education through Gardner-Webb University.  I received my National Board Certification in 2003 and renewed this certification in 2012.
I am married(37 yrs) to Danny Russ and we have five children (3 boys, 2 girls) and 15 grandchildren.  Other than my husband, they are the highlight of my life and visit “Camp Nonna” quite often. I am also the proud owner of a Bichon Frise named Tripp, and boy is he a trip! I am involved in my church choir and also direct our yearly Vacation Bible School.
My responsibilities as a classroom teacher go deeper than the four walls in the classroom.  This will be my 3rd consecutive year serving as our school's School Improvement Team Chair.  My role, along with the rest of our team, is to ensure that at the end of the day, we all know and understand our reason for coming to work each day. We are here to promote learning for all children to the best of our ability.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of my parents and students during this upcoming school year.  Thank you for entrusting me with your child's education.
