                To promote and develop a comprehensive Physical Education program appropriate to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study geared to the individual’s needs and to attain the goals of a IB educated student. Our goals are to emphasize lifetime activities; develop physical, mental, emotional and social skills and to invite successful participation in the program.

    About Me

    My name is Scott Sherrill. I teach Level 1 6th grade Physical Education and Health.  I am a graduate of Gardner Webb University where I majored in Physical Education and played Football for the Running Bulldawgs. I am a National Board Professional Teaching Standards certified Physical Education Teacher.  I drive a bus route for MMIB, have my own personal training company APE Athletic Performance Enhancement, and work security for the Carolina Panthers on Game days and Training Camp. I am married to Judy and we have 3 sons, Kaz -GWU graduate/employed by Coca Cola, Kane -Wofford College,3 time FB Letterman for the Terriers, and Karson ,2012 graduate of LNHS. I formerly coached/taught at North Mecklenburg and LNHS before retiring from coaching after 24 years, 12 of which I was Head Football Coach. I   served on the North Carolina Coaches Association Board of Directors from 2010-2013 and coached in the Annual Shriners East West All Star FB game in 2003. I am also an avid competitive Powerlifter, winning the USA PL State Championship in June 2016





    1.)  Students will be able to move in a variety of ways and apply those movements towards lifetime physical activities.

    2.) Students will participate in at least one team sport and one individual sport through small-sided games.

    3.) Students will be able to apply physiological and biomechanical principles related to exercise and training.

    4.) Students will be able to demonstrate skills in basic offensive and defensive strategies in team and individual sports.

    5.) Students will be able to apply rules and problem solving skills to movements and activities.

    6.) Students will display a physically active lifestyle.

    7.) Students will be able to use resources in their community to maintain regular physical activity.

    8.) Students will be able to identify and evaluate the health related fitness components

    9.) Students will be able to identify and evaluate skill related fitness components

    10.) Students will demonstrate respect for individual differences in      physical activity settings.
