We are a choice school within the Iredell-Statesville School District, therefore students must apply and meet qualifiations. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of seats available for any grade level, a lottery process will be used to determine the list of accepted students and generate the waiting list for each grade level.OPEN ENROLLMENT 2019-2020Mount Mourne's Open Enrollment will begin on January 1, 2019 and end January 31, 2019. Only applications submitted during the open enrollment period will be considered for the lottery.SCHOOL TOURS & INFORMATION NIGHTDuring the open enrollment period we will hold a limited number of guided school tours for prospective students and parents. Families may sign up for those tours online using the SignUpGenius, which will be posted under Latest News on our school's homepage.Mount Mourne will host an Information Night the evening of January 8, 2019, 5:30-7PM in our school's gym. No sign up is needed for the Information Night and more information will be posted as the date approaches.QUALIFICATIONSWhen determining a student's eligibility for admission, several data points are considered. The applicant’s report card grades, benchmark assessment scores, EOG scores, as well as their discipline and attendance record are reviewed.LOTTERY PROCESSIf the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of seats available for any grade level, applicants will be assigned a randomly generated lottery number to establish the waiting list for that grade. Students whose parents are full-time employees of Iredell-Statesville Schools or whose siblings already attend the requested school site (if they would be on campus during the same school year) would not be required to be a part of a lottery if the following conditions are met:
All qualified students residing within the physical boundaries of the Iredell-Statesville School District are eligible for the lottery. Students from outside of the school district's attendance zone will be a part of a second lottery if needed. Any application completed after the application window will go at the end of the list and be kept in a first come first serve manner. Applicants placed on the waiting list will be contacted when space becomes available in that grade. All applicants who apply during open enrollment will be notified of their application status by a mailed letter, which will be placed in the mail by February 26th. We do not notify applicants of their status by telephone, please wait for your letter. There is no cost for a student to attend Mt. Mourne if a family resides in the Iredell-Statesville School District (ISS). Students who reside outside ISS are required to pay an annual tuition fee which is established every summer.A portion of the application requires a short student essay and a brief parent response.
