MOUNT MOURNEAPPLICATION PROCESSGENERAL INFORMATIONWe have already accepted our incoming students for the 2017-2018 school year.Students in grades 5-7 this year may apply online for the 2018-2019 school year between December 1, 2017 and January 26, 2018. The link to our online application will be posted at the top of this page on December 1st and remain open until 3:30 PM on January 26th. Annually, only one application per student will be accepted. Applications do not roll over from one year to the next.SCHOOL TOURSDuring the open enrollment period we will hold a limited number of guided school tours for prospective students and parents. Please click here to sign up.APPLICATION PROCESSWhen determining a student's eligibility for admissions, several data points are considered. The applicant’s historical grades, benchmark assessment scores, EOG scores, EVAAS data, as well as their discipline and attendance record are considered.If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of seats available for any grade level, applicants will be assigned a randomly generated lottery number to establish the wait list for that grade. Students whose parents are full-time employees of Iredell-Statesville Schools or whose siblings already attend the requested school site (if they would be on campus during the same school year) would not be required to be a part of a lottery if the following conditions are met:
All qualified students residing within the physical boundaries of the Iredell-Statesville School District are eligible for the lottery. Students from outside of the school district's attendance zone will be a part of a second lottery if needed. The lottery will be held after the application window is closed. Any completed application received after the application window will go at the end of the list and be kept in a first come first serve manner. Applicants placed on the waiting list will be contacted when space becomes available in that grade. The lottery will take place in February at the district office. Applicants will be notified of their application status via a mailed letter, which will be placed in the mail by February 16th. We do not notify applicants of their status by telephone, you must wait for your letter.There is no cost for a student to attend Mt. Mourne if a family resides in the Iredell-Statesville School District. Students residing outside of our district are required to pay an annual tuition fee which is established every summer.Applications must be submitted before 3:30 PM on January 26, 2018 to be considered for the general lottery.A portion of the application requires a short student essay and a brief parent response. While filling out the application, the parent and student will both need to be present.LATE APPLICANTSAny application received after the open enrollment period will go at the end of the list and be kept in a first come first served manner. If you are submitting a late application you must fill out the online application AND obtain the following records from your student's school data manager:
- Application must be complete and submitted by the due date
- All entrance entrance criteria must be met (Policy Code: 4150 School Assignment)
