Welcome to my ClassroomMs. Karen Connell
I would like to introduce myself to you. I graduated from West Virginia University (Go Mountaineers!!!) with a B.S.in Elementary Education and a minor in child psychology & am certified to teach grades K-6. This is my 16th year as a teacher in North Carolina and my 15th year of teaching 4th grade. Prior to that I was fortunate to be a stay at home mom raising my three children: Shannon, Zach, & Marissa.
My students will all share that I am a "vocal" Steelers fan, have a love of Big Al's pizza, & have been a regular at Monsoon's for sushi. My older children both have graduated from Chapel Hill and my youngest is a NC State graduate so we are a house divided! I recently became a "Mimi" and my grandbaby Julia Belle is a favorite topic of mine. I also am proud to share with you that there is another "Ms. Connell" on staff at CCE and yes she is my daughter. Ms. M. Connell is our new STEM teacher and I am delighted that she is a CCE Coyote.
In 4th Grade we will spend a good bit of time writing because it also is a passion of mine. We will be integrating our curriculum and working in cooperative groups through out the year. I am so excited that we are an IBO World School and am looking forward to sharing that journey with your child.
I attend Williamson's Chapel West & am very big on community service. My hobbies include walking, reading, and Bible Study. During the summer I do private tutoring and have also taught Reading Camp in the summer. I spend a good bit of time on Lake Norman so please say hello if you cross my wake.
As you get to know me, you will find I am dedicated to educating your child in a warm and loving environment. I promise to give your child a good year and will help them reach their full potential for growth in the fourth grade..
I am available each day directly after school and encourage you to contact me for any reason. I love to teach and look forward to a terrific year. We welcome family involvement with our class and hope to meet all of you soon. Please stop in and visit us this year at CCE. Ms. Connell
