    Getting to Know Mrs. Yerger

My name is Jolene Yerger and I am thrilled to be your child’s First Grade teacher at Coddle Creek this year! I am originally from Pottstown, Pennsylvania. I attended Millersville University, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I also attended Kutztown University’s Graduate School, where I completed several courses towards a Reading Specialty certificate. In May 2013, I reached a long-term goal I had set for myself-I received my Masters of Education degree from Gardner-Webb University. The 2018-2019 school year will mark my 16th year of teaching! I have taught kindergarten, first and fourth grades respectively.

I am the proud wife to my husband, Brian and proud mom to my children, Madeline, age 17 and Brian, Jr., age 13. My Maddie is a senior at South Iredell High School this year, although I cannot believe she is already in her last year of high school! My son Brian is a happy-go-lucky eighth grader at Lakeshore Middle School and is proud to be a Laker!
I moved to Mooresville in 2006, due to a job relocation on my husband’s part. Brian is a Fabrication Manager with Penske Racing, Inc, and in 2006, the company relocated his department here. Although, it was very difficult to leave all of our friends and family in Pennsylvania, we are quite happy with our new “home.”

While living in Pennsylvania, I taught for seven years. I enjoyed teaching Kindergarten for five years and First Grade for two. After the birth of my son in 2005, I was fortunate enough to be able to take some time off from teaching and be a stay-at-home mom….which I thoroughly enjoyed!

When I am not at school, you can usually find me on the soccer field, basketball court or the race track!!! We are a very active family...my Maddie plays soccer, pretty much all year round. Brian plays basketball and is following in his dad's footsteps and drag races as well! And as for me...I run, literally:)  I enjoy running...it helps keep me sane and in shape enough to keep up with my own children and the twenty-plus students that I have the pleasure of working with each day!!!

Aside from being a wife and mother, being a teacher is just something that makes me complete. I love being in the classroom and feel very fortunate to have the privilege of being apart of Coddle Creek Elementary! I was both blessed and honored to represent Coddle Creek as Teacher of the Year for the 2014-2015 school year.

I look forward to getting to know both you and your child this year. I promise to do my best to ensure their learning in a safe, fun and welcoming classroom environment.

I invite you to spend some time in our classroom this year. I am a firm believer in open communication between the parents and teacher, so please, feel free to contact me whenever necessary.
