Activities and Clubs
Lake Norman Elementary offers a wide variety of programs to enhance every student's education. Below are some of the programs offered this year!
Battle of the Books
Lead by Mrs. Bradford and Mrs. Moore
Tryouts for any interested 4th and 5th grader are held in September. Parents are notified of tryouts via ConnectEd.
The 12 member team meets on Mondays from 2:30-3:30 in Mrs. Moore's room.
The Battle of the Books team will have a competition in the Spring, winners advance to Regionals and then the State competition.
Battle of the Books supports literacy, reading and comprehension components of the elementary curriculum.

Open to 40 4th and 5th graders. Students will be chosen by auditon and teacher recommendation.Rehersals will be on Tuesdays at 7am for 4th graders and Thursdays at 7am for 5th graders.
The Chorus will perform in concerts throughout the school year.These students will learn singing skills and various types of choral repertoire (styles of music including sacred and secular).Beginning Chorus
Open to 3rd graders. Students will be chosen by audition and teacher recommendation.

Interested 2nd-5th grade students can sign up with Mrs. Kersten each quarter. Each quarter will have a different activity.Moove & Groove Club is on Thursdays until 3:30 and is open to approximately 60 students.
After School Fitness is on Mondays until 3:30 during Q2 and Q3 and is open to approximately 40 students.These groups will have several activities during the year including a Fall 5K, jump rope event, speed stacking event and a Spring 5K.Fit clubs support the physical education curriculum for 2nd-5th graders.More information can be found on the teacher website linked above.Fire Bowl

Team of 10 students (5 4th graders and 5 5th graders) are chosen by teacher recommendation and Fire Bowl knowledgeTeam meets on Wednesdays until 3:15 beginning in January.Fire Bowl (competition) is held in April at Mitchell Community College.
LNE TVLead by Mrs. KerstenAudtions are open to 4th graders at the end of April.
9-12 students will be chosen to anchor the morning news during the week.

All interested 4th and 5th grade students are encouraged to join this club.Team meets on Thursdays until 3:30.Mrs. Moore has monthy competitions in during the meeting time.Math Olympiad supports the elementary math curriculum.More information can be found on the teacher website linked above.Safety Patrol
Lead by 5th grade teachers, Ms. Taylor (AM) and Ms. Morris (PM)
Intersted 5th grade students are encouraged to help with Safety Patrol.AM patrols will assist in the car rider line, opening doors for students and making sure they safely exit vehicles.This is a service club at LNE.

Lead by Mrs. OrrTo participate, students will complete a science fair experiment and create a science fair board at home. Then on October 26th, students will bring their project to school and have the opportunity to talk to our judges. The top 3 winners in the 3rd-5th grade division will move on to the I-SS District Science Fair.More information can be found on the teacher website linked above.Spelling Bee

Open to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.
Spelling Bee word list will be release in November. Classroom teachers will hold a classroom bee and with 1st and 2nd place students advancing to our school Spelling Bee in January. Winner and Runner-Up will advance to District Bee.Spelling Bee supports the elementary English Language Arts curriculum.Student Council
Lead by Ms. Webb and Mrs. Sprinkle
Open to all interested 4th and 5th grade
One boy and one girl from each 4th and 5th grade homeroom will be selected for Student Council.Group meets one Monday a month until 3:00.Student Council is a service group at LNE and encourages leadership.
