My Classroom Mission
The speech students created the mission statement:
"We will learn to be better talkers and listeners. We will practice our speech sounds, easy talking, opposites, categories, answering questions, following directions and defining new words. We will try our best, listen to each other and practice our new speech skills in class and at home."
I have worked for Iredell-Statesville Schools for the past fifteen years. I have served the students at Harmony for the past eleven years. I have also worked at a number of other schools in the county. I have returned every year to Harmony as I enjoy working with the students and the community. Last year, our school gained a speech-language assistant, Amanda Jordan, to help with services at Harmony and the other schools that I serve.
As far as my experience in the area of Speech Pathology, I graduated from Columbia College in South Carolina, and earned my Master's Degree from the University of Georgia
. I have worked in the schools, rehabilitation and hospital settings. My true love has been serving students in the school.
On a personal note, my husband and I moved to North Carolina fifteen years ago to be closer to his family. I have two wonderful step-daughters. The oldest one is married, lives near Charleston,SC, and has two delightful sons. One has recently turned three and is talking up a storm. The other grandson is beginning third grade this year. He always wants to come visit us "by himself" for a week or two, which is always a treat for us. My youngest step-daughter is planning her wedding to be held next April.
