Our school currently has a over 120,000 book titles on our AR program. You can access AR from home using your child's username and password. Students may not take AR tests from home, but you can see their scores and progress towards their goal. You can also check to see what books are AR.
- AR goals are set the first full week of school and students are expected to reach 100% of their goal by the deadline towards the end of the school year. A Reading Contract will be sent home during the first full week of school for parents to review.
Students will be given time during class to read their books. This time will occur at different times throughout the day (during guided reading, after work is finished, when arriving to school). Reading makes for better readers, so it is important that students read at home as well.
- Students are also expected to read 30 minutes at home.
Students are allowed to reference their AR book when taking a test, but should not be relying on the book to pass the AR test.
Students are allowed to have 2 books checked out from the school library and 1 book from the classroom library at a time.
Please have your child read daily. In addition to the school library, the Iredell County Library has a children's section where students can find many interesting books. Visit their website at http://www.iredell.lib.nc.us/ for more information.
Here are some links to questions that you could ask your child at home when they are reading:
