Grant Project Summary

We open tomorrow's eyes with TLC (Teaching/Learning.com). Recognizing that students and teachers are learning and teaching in new and creative ways, Iredell-Statesville Schools is committed to providing technology and training necessary to enhance both student and teacher learning. One to two teachers (TLC Trainer) from each of our schools have been provided thirty+ hours of staff development with emphasis on the integration of technology throughout the curriculum. Each TLC Trainer is developing and organizing staff development and integration opoortunities at their schools. Laptops are available for TLC Trainers and schools to checkout to use for technology training and student/teacher projects (webpages, HyperStudio or PowerPoint presentations, etc.). The trainers organize annual School Technology Fairs to showcase the technology activities done in their schools and the district host a system-wide technology fair annually for teachers to share ideas and receive training in other methods.

During the 2001-2002 school year, the Instructional Technology Department received a NOW grant from NCSSM (North Carolina School of Science and Math) to supplement the TLCF grant.  Teams from grades 3-5 participated by creating model technology integrated lessons.
