UPDATED: Board Approves Changes to the School Calendar
A harsh winter has forced the Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education to make changes to the remainder of the 2013-2014 school calendar. Students in I-SS have missed seven full days due to snow and ice.
Although the week of spring break is still intact for students, a state law requiring boards of education to provide 195 working days for 10-month employees has forced the board to include teacher workdays to spring break. However, students will have to attend school on March 28 and April 18 to make up for two of the days missed due to inclement weather. The board also decided to waive additional days instead of making them up.
At this time, students will still get out of school on Wednesday, June 11. However, if additional days are missed, the board could require students to attend school on June 12 or 13, which are designated snow make-up days.
