Introduction
  This lesson was developed as part of the Iredell-Statesville Schools Technology Department's WebQuest training. 
 

Learners
     This WebQuest correlates with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and integrates goals and objectives for kindergarten curricula areas: Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics and Social Studies. It was designed for kindergarten children, but could be adapted for other primary grades.

The teacher will need to bring the WebQuest up for the children. An adult or older student will need to be available for needed assistance. The children will need experience using a mouse.

Curriculum Standards

Technology
                    1.1 Identify the computer as a
                                      machine that helps people work and
                                      play. (SI)
                    1.3 Demonstrate respect for the
                                      work of others. (SI) 
                    1.4 Demonstrate correct care and
                                      use of computers. (SI) 
                     2.1 Locate and use letters,
                                      numbers, and special keys on a
                                      keyboard. (KU/WP/DTP) 
                     2.2 Place the cursor at a specified
                                      location. (KU/WP/DTP) 
Language Arts
                     1.01 Develop book and print
                                     awareness:

                Competency Goal 2:
                                     The learner will develop and apply
                                     strategies and skills to
                                     comprehend text that is read,
                                     heard, and viewed.
                      3.01 Connect information and
                                     events in text to experience.
                      3.02 Discuss concepts and information in a 
                               text to clarify and extend knowledge.
Math
                      1.05 Write numerals 0-9 in meaningful contexts.
Social Studies
                      3.2 Compare appropriate behaviors
                             in home and school environments. 
                      3.3 Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate 
                             behavior in different environments. 

Process

This lesson is organized to be done by a student alone or with a partner using a teacher, a volunteer or an older student for assistance. The student may complete the quest in one sitting or in several. The quest is set up so the student can click on the given task to get to sites where activities are located. The teacher will need to bring the WebQuest up for the children. The children will need experience using a mouse. Resources Needed

         The student will share a picture with the  class, share in class the bear facts learned by helping to make a class chart and complete at least two other activities. The student will use the Checklist as a recording sheet.  Conclusion
     The student will gain the ability to use the computer as a learning tool. He or she will meet several other learning goals in Language Arts, Math and Social Studies. Credits & References
