Introduction

The Summer of My German Soldier, by Bette Greene is a book that has many memorable events in our history.  Adolf Hitler wanted to take over the world, World War II had erupted, and people were trying to survive the Great Depression.  Before you begin reading this exciting novel, you need to take some time to discover the history of the 1930's.  This will help you place yourself in this time period, so you can feel like one of the characters.  You are going to find all of this history on the internet.  So get ready to click your mouse back in time! 
 



 
 


 

The Task

Your task is to discover what life was like in the 1930's.  You will be responsible for answering each question by using the internet resources I have offered to you.   Please answer each question by writing a complete sentence.  Be prepared to present your answers during our class discussion.

Conclusion
