Create a Web Folder on the desktop to save graphics etc.. Use Example Web Page as a visual guide as you use these instructions. (In Iredell-Statesville, teachers publish directly to the web so will not save webpage in a folder on the desktop.)
 
Opening  a New Page
First, launch Netscape. (actual Internet connection is not necessary) 
·Go to the File menu and click on New. Select Blank Page. Click on File, Save As, navigate to desktop, open Web folder, Name the file index and click save. You will then have a window to name the page if you want to change the name. (Index is the industry standard name for your front page.) 

·Click on Format, Page colors, select color for your background. You can also change the color of the links. 

·Click on Alignment arrow and select center.  Click on font size and select 36. 

·Type the name of your webpage.  You can change the color of the text, font, or size by hightlighting text and making selection. 

·Push the Enter key twice. Click on the H. Line in the toolbar for a horizontal line. 

·Type in My Picture: format, bold, resize, color font, etc. 

Multitasking- minimize web page and type in URL http://www.hoxie.org. At this site locate a graphic, right click, save as, locate web folder, rename graphic (short/sweet with no spaces) and save. 

Maximize webpage, click on Image in tool bar, click on Choose File. Locate saved graphic (on desktop in folder) and double click on graphic to insert.  Choose text alignment, Choose dimensions-200 pixels or less, Choose border if you would like a border.  As of September 1, 2001 images are required to have alternate text.  While image window is open, click on Alt. text/Low Res.  Type name of graphic in text box and browse to select your graphic.Click OK, apply and Close 

(Click on Preview to see what your graphic and text alignment will look like then close browser window.)

Type My Favorite Web Pages: Yahooligans, then highlight Yahooligans, click on Link and type http://www.yahooligans.com. Repeat procedure for Funbrain, highlight, click on Link and type http://www.funbrain.com. (Tip if you do not type in http in the URL it will not link. You can also locate site, copy and paste the url address)
·Click on Table, select 2 rows and 2 columns, click on Center option, change border if desired. Click on Apply and Close. Type in text. Format table, center text, color text, change font, etc.
·At the bottom of your web page you may want to include your email address.
·Click on New, Blank Page. Click on File, Save As, navigate to desktop, open Web folder, Name the file rules (no space) and click save. You will then have a window to name the page if you want to change the name.
·Go back to index page. Click and drag on Class Rules in Table. Click on Link, click on Choose file and locate classrules, click Open, Apply, and Close. 
Repeat for Schedule, Projects, Fieldtrips.
