FAFSA Information

All colleges and universities use results from the FAFSA(Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to determine the financial aid packages for students. The FAFSA forms as well as the worksheets that will help when you apply online are available in the Student Center and online at www.fafsa.ed.gov .The worksheet is to be used with the online version. The questions are in a different order on the paper version. Parents will need their W2 form. We will have a financial aid workshop at our high school to help parents fill out the form. Your prospective college will try to meet your financial need made up of funds from federal, state, school and private sources. This may include loans, grants, scholarships and student employment. Parents and students must obtain a PIN number before you can process the FAFSA form online. To obtain a PIN you and your parents can visit www.pin.ed.gov. Click on “Apply for Pin” near the top of the page. It takes about three days to receive a PIN via e-mail.

Please watch deadlines and submit complete applications. Most scholarship applications are in the Student Center but more and more they are available only online. The counselors will inform our students of scholarship opportunities made available to our guidance department, but it would be a good idea to check scholarship websites at our other high schools. Other sources of scholarships are churches, your parents place of employment and organizations in which they are involved. We will have updated lists of scholarships in the Student Center, so check often.
