Greyhound Soccer Rules for Players

 Statesville High School

Greyhound Soccer really just has one rule: "Do Right!" If we abide by that credo, we will not need a catalog of regulations. However, a few times in the past we have had to be specific regarding some activities by team members. For that reason, the captains and coaches have established these guidelines.
Players are expected to attend each practice unless required by a teacher to attend study sessions. Family activities and medical appointments will also be excused, but prior notice must be given. If you miss practice for an unexcused reason, do not expect to start or play in the next game. After-school detention is considered an unexcused absence. If you are assigned to ISS or OSS, you will miss the next scheduled match. You must be in attendance at school for all four periods on game day.

Wear shirt & tie to school for home matches - look sharp!
Be on time for the game - don't miss the bus or team meetings.
Tell coach about training needs well before game time!

All players must be dressed, boots on, SHS soccer t-shirt, and looking sharp, before half-time of JV game.

At half-time of JV game, team on field for kick-around: 5v2, pairs drills. Stay clear of JV teams meeting at half time.

Put equipment bags in a neat row, near the team bench, and don't congregate around the water cooler. All bags should be closed with your warm-ups inside. Stay clear of the JV bench area.

During 2nd half of JV game, get in a tight group and have a team stretch. Do not play on the track between the JV game and the spectators. Show respect for JV players and parents. Make your final game preparations at this time. Use this for your private time, to get yourself game ready.

After away matches, players may ride home with their parent only. With written
permission from parents, players may ride with another parent. No players may ride home in a private car without a parent present.

Wear the uniform with pride! LOOK LIKE A TEAM! No colors or designer boxers. If you must wear boxers, wear white or gray and wear them so that they are not visible. Shirts tucked in, shorts at waist level, socks tight to the knee.

Remember, if we think only of ourselves, team performance suffers.
Think, Act, and Play like a Greyhound!
