James K. Polk Memorial The James K. Polk Memorial is a remembrance of the eleventh president. In 1795 James K. Polk was born on his parents 250 acre farm. When he was eleven he moved west to be with his grandfather in Tennessee. You can visit his homestead, which is located in Pineville. Some of his achievements were, at the age 14 he served as a state representative, and he was also a successful lawyer. He was also a US congressman.
